Early Childhood Development Specialist

Job Description:

This role focuses on empowering the independence, community inclusion and quality of life of First Nations children aged 0–9 with disabilities or developmental delays.

Building strong relationships with First Nations families is key, ensuring their voices and preferences are at the forefront. Key responsibilities include:

  • Observing children in their natural environment to assess functioning and support needs
  • Supporting families to establish meaningful goals and aspirations for their child and family, and tracking progression towards goals
  • Providing community connections and linkages to mainstream services to improve access to supports and social participation
  • Working within the framework of Best Practice Guidelines in Early Intervention

The position is based in Sydney, with regular travel across the area to engage with families and communities in their own homes.

Key qualifications include experience working with First Nations children and families, understanding of child development (0–9 years), knowledge and connection to local First Nations communities, and the ability to promote a culturally safe and supportive work environment.

A tertiary qualification in Early Childhood or Allied Health is desirable, as well as an understanding of child protection principles and a valid Driver's Licence (P1 minimum).
