Job Title: Community Advocate

This role is focused on supporting First Nations children with disabilities or developmental delays to empower their independence, community inclusion and overall quality of life.

Daily Responsibilities:
  • We build strong relationships with First Nations families, ensuring their voices are at the forefront of our work.
  • Our team undertakes observations in a child's natural environment to assess their functioning and support needs.
  • We collaborate with families to establish meaningful goals & aspirations for their child and family, and track progression toward these goals.
  • We provide links to mainstream services in the local area to improve access to the right supports and promote social participation.
About This Role:
  • This is an Identified Position available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only, under relevant legislation.
  • We are seeking someone with experience working with First Nations children and families, a solid understanding of child development (0–9 years), and connections to local First Nations communities.
  • The ideal candidate will be confident in building community networks and service pathways, promoting a culturally safe work environment, and possessing a valid Driver's Licence (P1 minimum).
