Aviation Meteorologist Position
\We are seeking a skilled Aviation Meteorologist to join our team, responsible for providing specialized meteorological services contributing to efficient and effective aviation operations.
\As an Aviation Meteorologist, you will maintain a suite of products and services for aviation users, preparing and issuing various products such as TAFs, GAFs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs, aerodrome weather briefings, wind shear warnings, and search and rescue forecasts.
\You will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the development of forecast policy, collaborating with other meteorologists to ensure the provision of a consistent suite of services, and producing and issuing forecasts and warnings from the Brisbane or Melbourne Aviation Forecasting Centres.
\Additional responsibilities include liaising with customers and service partners, providing briefing services to support decision-making, and participating in projects and customer engagement activities to improve the effectiveness of Aviation Meteorological Services.
\Successful applicants will have a Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists (BIP-M) qualification as a minimum, with one year of experience in an operational meteorological service delivery environment desirable. Training and certification will be provided to successful applicants if required.
\Key Responsibilities\- Prepare and issue various products including TAFs, GAFs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs, aerodrome weather briefings, wind shear warnings, and search and rescue forecasts.
- Contribute to the development of forecast policy and collaborate with other meteorologists to ensure the provision of a consistent suite of services.
- Produce and issue forecasts and warnings from the Brisbane or Melbourne AFC for low-level aviation clients, including forecasts for international airports.
- Liaise with customers and service partners and provide briefing services to support decision-making.
- Participate in projects and customer engagement activities to improve the effectiveness of Aviation Meteorological Services.
- Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists (BIP-M) qualification as a minimum.
- One year of experience in an operational meteorological service delivery environment is desirable.
- Maintain Aeronautical Meteorological Forecaster competency; HWU role may require VAAC competencies.
- Training and certification will be provided if required.
