A leading energy operator is seeking an Operational Forecasting Specialist to play a critical role in real-time electricity system operations across Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing operational forecasting models, working closely with weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of short-term forecasts that feed into key operational and market systems in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain operational forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms.
- Collaborate with weather providers and control rooms to ensure accurate translation of weather risks into system impacts.
- Coordinate data and forecasting processes between the NEM and WEM to ensure seamless alignment.
- Provide energy and weather information and insights to support operational advisories, power system incident reviews, and market reports.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or a related statistical discipline.
- Proven experience in the energy sector or a similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting, or analytical role.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports and presentations.
- Strong working knowledge of data analysis and statistical modelling techniques.
