Electricity Demand Forecaster

We are seeking a skilled Operational Forecaster to join our team in Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving forecast models for electricity demand, distributed photovoltaics (PV), and renewable energy generation in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or a related field, experience in the energy sector or similar, preferably in forecasting or analytical roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage operational forecasting models for demand, rooftop PV, solar farms, and wind farms, updating inputs and parameters to reflect system changes and improve performance.
- Collaborate with weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts and ensure operators have necessary information.
- Coordinate across teams and markets to align tools, data, and processes between the NEM and WEM.
- Provide energy and weather insights for operational advisories, incident reviews, and market reports.
- Support upgrades and digital enhancements of forecasting systems to improve their performance and reliability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, with experience preparing reports and presentations for diverse stakeholders, as well as knowledge of data analysis and statistical modeling tools such as PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, and Excel.
