Our team is responsible for developing and maintaining short-term forecasts that feed into key operational and market systems.
About The RoleThe Operational Forecasting team plays a critical role in real-time electricity system operations across Australia. We support our control rooms through high-quality data, systems, training, assessment and operational planning advice. This includes managing forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms.
We work closely with our weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts and ensure operators have the information they need.
- We manage operational forecasting models by updating inputs, parameters and variables to reflect system changes and improve performance.
- We coordinate across teams and markets to align tools, data and forecasting processes between different regions.
We contribute energy and weather information and insights into operational advisories, power system incident reviews and market reports to support secure and reliable power system operations.
What You Will Bring To The Role- Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology or a related statistical discipline.
- Experience in the energy sector or a similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting or analytical role.
- Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience preparing high-quality reports and presentations to communicate technical information to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and statistical modelling techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across multiple projects.
