Job Title: Training and Development Officer
">The State Marine Training Section is seeking a training and development officer (Marine) to support the development of training programs. These programs include National Recognised courses for members to operate QPS Vessel fleet, undertake search and rescue coordination and other specialised training.
">The successful candidate will undertake duties across Queensland to develop and implement training, assessments and evaluation strategies that meets policy industry, Registered Training Authority, and national regulator requirements with view to improve QPS capability and support frontline policing operations.
">Key Accountabilities- Develop and deliver QPS education and training courses and programs using evidence based adult education techniques and training best practice strategies.
- Identify training and developmental needs and assist in assessment, monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of all training and assessment strategies, practices, programs and participants.
- Overview and develop training packages, VET accredited course requirements and internal course materials in accordance with national training packages and Queensland Police Service policy.
- Coordinate course curriculum, collate records and allocate tasks applicable to state water police training section.
- Research and contribute to development of service policy relating to Queensland Police Service training outcomes.
- Establish and maintain effective networks within Queensland Police Service and external agencies.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to Coordinator, State Marine Training Section on matters effecting maritime training requirements.

- Meet colour vision and medical requirements for domestic seafarers' qualifications that relate to Navigation and or Lookout duties, AMSA form 1850 refers. (Standards for medical examination of domestic seafarers - AMSA).
- Applicants must hold valid Australian driver's licence (Queensland Open Class C without A (automatic) condition).
- Qualifications including TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, equivalent or higher, MAR30821 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver grade 2 Near Coastal) and MAR30921 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master less than 24 metres Near Coastal) equivalent or higher and hold AMSA Domestic Certificate of Competency (CoC) (Vessel qualification) for each qualification or ability obtain CoC would be highly regarded.
- It is desirable that applicant can quickly meet ASQA requirements to undertake training (Nationally recognised - QPS RTO 1549; and have technical skills and experience to train Queensland Police Service members; and meet requirements of AMSA to undertake AMSA Mandated Practical Assessments for the QPS RTO.
- Delivery of training and assessment can be within classroom, workplace, simulated and online learning environments. Other training materials may require media productions and use of electronic aids.
- Successful applicants will be required to attain and maintain marine certification and operational proficiency appropriate to this role.
- This position will require ability to travel within and outside of state of Queensland and capability to work and live aboard Queensland Police Service vessels. It may be case that deployments may be up to and including 10 days in duration.
