Job Description

The core objective of this role is to deliver high-quality training and education programs that meet the requirements of our maritime operations.

This includes developing and implementing evidence-based adult education techniques, as well as identifying training needs and assessing, monitoring, and evaluating training strategies and practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating training packages, vet accredited course requirements, and internal course materials in accordance with national training packages and relevant policies.

Additionally, they will coordinate course curriculum, manage records, and allocate tasks applicable to the state water police training section.

The role also involves researching and contributing to the development of service policy relating to training outcomes, as well as establishing and maintaining effective networks within the organisation and external agencies.

Effective communication and advice will be provided to the Coordinator, State Marine Training Section on matters affecting maritime training requirements.

Requirements

This role requires a strong understanding of adult education principles and the ability to apply them in a practical setting. The successful candidate will have:

  • Mandatory qualifications including TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, MAR30821 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver grade 2 Near Coastal), and MAR30921 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master less than 24 metres Near Coastal)
  • Valid Australian driver's license (Queensland Open Class C without A (automatic) condition)

The ability to quickly obtain ASQA requirements to undertake training and have technical skills and experience to train members will be highly regarded. Additionally, meeting the requirements of AMSA to undertake AMSA Mandated Practical Assessments will be necessary.

This position may require the ability to travel within and outside of the state of Queensland and work/live aboard Queensland Police Service vessels, potentially up to 10 days in duration.
