Family Intervention Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Family Intervention Specialist to join our team of dedicated professionals who share a common goal of supporting vulnerable families and preventing child protection interventions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of children and their families. As a Family Intervention Specialist, you will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized plans, and provide intensive support to help them achieve stability and reunification.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders. You will also possess a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and cultural competence, which will enable you to navigate complex family dynamics and provide tailored support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To conduct thorough assessments of client needs and develop comprehensive support plans
  • To provide intensive in-home support through assessment, counseling, reunification, education/training, and therapeutic interventions
  • To work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and other agencies to achieve desired outcomes
  • To maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to organizational policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or Behavioral Science
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in similar programs
  • Current Blue Card or willingness to apply for one
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Experience working with at-risk children, young people, and families under child protection interventions
  • Knowledge of Intensive Family Preservation and Reunification models
