About the Role

We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Rio Tinto in Bell Bay, Tasmania.

This is a permanent position that offers a competitive base salary of $80,000-$120,000 per annum, plus attractive share ownership plan, company provided insurance cover, and extensive salary sacrifice & salary packaging options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute performance reports on Health and Safety performance to the site, including identify trends and insights and End of Month/year reporting.
  • Be involved in Safety Maturity Model assessments (internal and external) and other relevant audits and assessments.
  • Manage the Critical Risk Management (CRM) portal with respect to Bell Bay employees and contractors.
  • Provide advice on relevant Health and Safety risks and aspects to operational teams.
  • Facilitate the completion of incident investigations along with investigation leads.
  • Prepare and deliver Health and Safety improvement packages (e.g. shift start talks).
  • Coordinate the sites HSE committee.
  • Maintain the distribution of isolation hardware.
  • Provide advice on the suitability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Prepare the annual Emergency Response Team (ERT) training plan in conformance with relevant laws and regulations and Rio Tinto standards.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the annual ERT training plan and attendance to the annual TMEC ERT competition.
What You'll Bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and/or Emergency Response (Desirable).
  • Experience in a Work Health and Safety or related field.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines.
