At Tesla, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Battery Engineer to join our cross-functional Applications Engineering team.

This is a critical position responsible for integrating renewable generation and battery storage into utility power systems.

You will design and implement controls for large battery storage projects (10 MWh - 2 GWh), both islanded and connected to the bulk electrical power system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deploy monitoring and control schemes for complex utility-scale battery projects.
  • Manage design, integration, deployment, and commissioning of entire SCADA scope, both on-site and remotely.
  • Implement cybersecurity measures required for critical infrastructure telemetry.
  • Understand, define, and disseminate functional requirements and feedback from the market.
  • Support new software features by writing specifications and test plans.
  • Act as technical point of contact with customers throughout sales and deployment of our products.
  • Work with external counterparties to identify best technical fit of our offering.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement fixes on operational sites.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant Engineering discipline with five years' work experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing communication networks for critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with industry standard cyber security requirements.
  • Demonstrated application of analysis, design, and testing to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals – mechanical, electrical, and thermal.
  • Familiarity with relevant communication protocols and computer interfaces.
  • Familiarity with programming platforms and languages.
  • Experience with implementing redundant networking/control system architectures.
  • Familiarity with grid interconnection SCADA telemetry requirements.
