About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior IT Project Manager to join our team at the State of Washington. As a key member of our Technology Innovation Administration, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation and optimization projects across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end project management of EHR implementation and optimization projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, revenue, and IT teams to gather requirements and ensure alignment with project goals, fostering a culture of collaboration and open communication.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and report on financial performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards throughout the project lifecycle, upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, develop contingency plans, and resolve issues as they arise, demonstrating proactive and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, providing updates to stakeholders and senior management, and ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Oversee the training and support of end-users during the EHR implementation process, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success and identify areas for improvement, driving continuous process enhancement and quality improvement.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Information Systems, Project Management, Business Administration, or Healthcare Management, and seven years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in the information technology business analysis or project management.
  • OR an Associate's degree in information technology or a related field and nine years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in the information technology business analysis or project management.
  • OR 11 years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in the information technology business analysis or project management.
  • AND concurrent experience as a project specialist with large technology projects, with specific expertise in clinical EHR implementations.
  • Demonstrated record of successful project scheduling of large-scale, high-visibility projects with multiple business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office tools (MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Visio and SharePoint), with subject matter expert-level experience with Microsoft Project to coach staff/peers.
  • Strong communication skills and experience documenting and communicating project schedule objectives, customer needs, and management expectations.
  • Experience with visualization of complex schedules and project management activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Awareness of information technology environments, e.g., cloud, virtual, physical infrastructure, enterprise application development/implementation, software systems.
  • Experience working in acute and ambulatory settings.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and tools such as Confluence and Jira.
