Job Title: Structural & Outfitting Engineer

Navantia Australia is seeking a highly skilled Structural & Outfitting Engineer to join our team in Osborne, Adelaide. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the design and execution of complex engineering and shipbuilding projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply engineering knowledge and experience to the execution of large and complex engineering and shipbuilding projects.
  • Design and develop structures and outfitting elements, including ship main structure, equipment foundations, and false floors.
  • Provide onsite platform system engineering design and support the Melbourne Design Engineering Centre.
  • Engage with stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate with other members of the onsite platform engineering team and the DEC Melbourne for the TDP and overall design aspects.
  • Manage engineering change, including PIRs, Deviations, and locally delegated engineering changes.
  • Act under the delegated authority of the DDG Design Authority in support of the DDG Phase 6 Support Team Manager and DDG Phase 6 Program Manager.
  • Provide pre-production and production engineering support on various program aspects.
Requirements:
  • 4 years' experience in relevant engineering or marine environment working in a shipbuilding or related engineering role.
  • Experience in the design of structures or outfitting elements on naval ship platforms (desirable).
  • Experience in complex ship upgrade, maintenance, or repair activities (desirable).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Competent in the understanding of, and development of, engineering documentation and engineering drawings.
