About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work on complex engineering and shipbuilding projects, incorporating multiple system changes and upgrades. As a Structural and Outfitting Engineer, you will apply your engineering knowledge and experience to design structures and outfitting elements, including ship main structure, equipment foundations, and other structural/outfitting elements.
Key Responsibilities- Apply engineering knowledge and experience to the execution of large and complex engineering and shipbuilding projects.
- Design structures and outfitting elements, including ship main structure, equipment foundations, and other structural/outfitting elements.
- Provide onsite platform system engineering design and support the Melbourne Design Engineering Centre (DEC).
- Engage with stakeholders, external and internally, to coordinate and manage engineering change, including PIRs, Deviations, and locally delegated engineering changes.
- Act under the delegated authority of the DDG Design Authority in support of the DDG Phase 6 Support Team Manager and DDG Phase 6 Program Manager.
- 4 years' experience in relevant engineering or marine environment working in a shipbuilding or related engineering role.
- Experience in the design of structures or outfitting elements on naval ship platforms (desirable).
- Experience in complex ship upgrade, maintenance, or repair activities (desirable).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients.
