Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation providing primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to improving Aboriginal men's health outcomes.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Male Registered Nurse to join our team based in Tennant Creek. As a key member of our health services section, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality holistic primary health care services featuring prevention and treatment in a culturally responsive way.
**Job Summary:**
This is a full-time position requiring strong relationships with male clients, effective collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, and a holistic philosophy to overall good health and wellbeing. You will assist us in working towards improving Aboriginal Men's health in Tennant Creek, including surrounding communities.
**Responsibilities:**
• Work closely with Aboriginal Health Practitioners to maintain and develop culturally appropriate and accessible health services for men (CARPA Standard Treatment Manual).
• Continue the ongoing development and promotion of Anyinginyi Health programs and participate in health and wellbeing check clinics.
• Provide STI education, screening, and contract tracing.
• Deliver healthcare to men, youth, aged, and people with disabilities, including prompt follow-up and recall of patients in liaison with AHPs, Doctors, and other nurses.
• Facilitate tracing (for notifiable diseases) and treatment of patients moving between communities, homelands, and outstations.
• Deliver substance abuse care, nutritional care, and mental health care.
• Provide capacity building education and information sessions to the community.
• Involve traditional elders and leaders in promoting health and wellbeing within the community.
• Initiate and participate in health promotion activities aimed at individual and population health preventative initiatives.
• Maintain client/patient registration in accordance with client information systems Communicare and Medicare Closing the Gap (CTG) e-PIP guidelines.
• Utilise office equipment and technology in accordance with Anyinginyi's policies.
• Assist in ordering and accounting for pharmaceutical and other supplies.
• Produce written reports as requested in relation to activities and responsibilities.
• Provide general healthcare – assessment and management of clinical problems in consultation with AHPs, Doctors, other nurses, or CARPA Standard Treatment Manual protocols.
**Requirements:**
To be considered for this position, you must possess current registration as a Registered Nurse and evidence of an understanding of the Primary Health Care system and key issues relevant to closing the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience working with an Aboriginal organisation or communities will be highly regarded, but not essential if you can demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues pertaining to Aboriginal Primary Health Care and social determinants of health.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor your approach to meet the needs of each family, building effective relationships with our clients.
A National Police Clearance and Ochre Card (NT Working with Children's) card obtainment are requirements prior to commencement in this role.
