Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Services Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. As a Technical Services Engineer, you will use your outstanding problem-solving and customer service skills, along with your deep technical experience, to advise customers and solve their complex MongoDB problems.

You will be a specialist in the entire MongoDB ecosystem, including database server, drivers, management suite, and services such as Cloud Manager. Our engineers combine their MongoDB expertise with passion, initiative, teamwork, and a great sense of humor to achieve exceptional results for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical support to our customers, resolving complex issues related to MongoDB architecture, performance, recovery, security, and more.
  • Work alongside our largest customers, using your technical expertise to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with our product management and development teams to advocate for customer needs and drive product innovation.
  • Contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Share your knowledge with the team, either through informal conversations or training and workshop sessions, to help your peers succeed.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of proven experience in a technical role, with a strong focus on problem-solving and customer service.
  • Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read code and basic coding/scripting ability in one or more languages, such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, etc.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, etc.
  • Experience supporting complex mission-critical product applications and database systems (RDBMS or non-relational).

Success Measures
  • In 3 months, you will have gained a deep understanding of MongoDB and its ecosystem.
  • In 6 months, you will be comfortable working frontline with our customers and will have completed the MongoDB Certified DBA Associate exam.
  • In 12 months, you will be a part of a technical experts group within MongoDB and will be helping your peer engineers in advance diagnostics.
