Senior Platform Engineer Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our team at Commonwealth Bank.

This role involves designing, building, running and evolving tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities that engineers use to deliver business value.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in SAML, OAuth/OIDC protocols, LDAP and AWS, as well as hands-on experience with PingFederate, PingAccess, PingDirectory and PingOne for Customers & Workforce.

  • Design, build, run and evolve tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities that engineers use to deliver business value.
  • Write code that automates running our infrastructure and environments.
  • Ensure secure and seamless authentication of our workforce across various systems and applications; maintain the integrity and reliability of authentication and directory services infrastructure.
  • Operate in a DevSecOps environment with a focus on automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability and embedded security practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation and optimization into every stage of the engineering lifecycle, driving innovation, operational efficiency and platform resilience.
  • Fulfill a full cycle platform engineering role (design, build, challenge, run).

In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of SAML, OAuth/OIDC protocols, LDAP and AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with PingFederate, PingAccess, PingDirectory and PingOne for Customers & Workforce (design, implement, support and maintain these platforms).
  • Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD and automation tools (GitHub, GitHub Actions, TeamCity).
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Windows and Linux server experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK/CloudFormation, Ansible, Lambda).
  • Experience with containerisation, virtualization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AKS).
  • Observability tooling experience (Grafana, Prometheus).
