At Macquarie Neurosurgery, we are seeking an experienced Operational Director to oversee the strategic and operational management of our large neurosurgery practice.

About Us

We are one of Australia's largest academic neurosurgery groups, with 10 neurosurgeons having nationally and internationally recognized clinical subspecialty expertise. Our organization is committed to teaching the next generation of neurosurgeons and expanding knowledge in neurosurgery through our research programs. Based at Macquarie University, we run outreach programs with clinics throughout NSW and ACT.

Job Description

The Operational Director will be responsible for ensuring seamless operations, financial performance, and growth while maintaining high-quality patient care. Key areas of responsibility include strategy and business development, operations management, and human resources and team development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth
  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and potential expansions
  • Oversight of daily operations in partnership with the Practice Manager
  • Management of relationships with external stakeholders and internal departments
  • Building and managing the annual budget and overseeing financial performance
  • Ensuring contracts, HR policies, and procedures are up-to-date and compliant
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in business or related field
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in managing healthcare practice operations or a business unit
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Expertise in financial management and data-driven decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and communicate effectively across clinical, business, and administrative teams
