Collections and Recovery Specialist

The role of a Collections and Recovery Specialist is vital in coordinating with internal teams and external partners during the collection process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Distinguishing between arrears and categorizing them into technical/administrative and credit arrears for accurate follow-up.
  • Communicating with debtors via telephone and correspondence to resolve arrears.
  • Monitoring debtor payment behavior and arrears progression, evaluating credit risk and exposure, and classifying debtors accordingly.
  • Formulating payment plans, determining approach strategies, and ensuring conditional payments are made. Legal action may be initiated as necessary.
  • Negotiating with debtors and stakeholders, reporting on progress, and documenting debtor and arrears history in relevant systems.
  • Managing and maintaining an overview of personal portfolio and ratings, escalating cases to relevant departments (Recovery, Specialties, Non-Flow, Sales) as required.
