Health and Safety Manager Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Sydney, Australia.

This is a key role in ensuring the health and safety of our associates and maintaining a safe working environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Amazon's WHS culture and ensuring compliance with all applicable local legislative obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with site leaders to drive Amazon's WHS culture and ensure compliance with all applicable local legislative obligations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles and kaizens to identify best practices and implement them into our standards.
  • Develop and execute leadership development plans for your team and create comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis reports.
  • Train and instruct operations leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist site teams in incorporating our safety standards.
  • Collaborate with operations site teams to measure performance against published requirements and identify areas for improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of Australian WHS legislation, including state-specific legislation and codes of practice.
  • Experience in distribution center or manufacturing EHS with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations experience.
