Job Opportunity: Health and Safety Specialist

This is a chance to play a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment on one of Western Sydney's largest infrastructure projects. As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will contribute to safety management across the site, working with stakeholders to manage risks and promote safe practices.

About The Role

You will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of health and safety plans and procedures across the site. This includes conducting regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and project-specific standards.

  • Conduct thorough site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis to implement corrective actions and improve safety outcomes.
  • Provide expert health and safety advice, training, and support to construction personnel and subcontractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, coaching, and visible leadership.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including SWMS, toolbox talks, site induction records, and incident reports.
  • Assist with safety reporting and data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Liaise with client representatives, regulators, and internal stakeholders to ensure proactive safety communication and coordination.
What We're Looking For
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a health and safety role within construction, infrastructure, or rail environments.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and safety systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Experience working in high-risk environments or on major infrastructure projects is desirable.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for driving positive safety outcomes.
