Job Description

The role of Fleet Supervisor involves ensuring efficient supervision and maintenance of Council's fleet (plant & equipment).

This position provides high-level support to the Engineering Services department and other operations, while achieving fleet utilisation objectives.

  • Manage fleet maintenance, workshop facilities and associated assets; ensure repairs and maintenance are prioritised, scheduled and carried out with minimal delay;
  • Maintain up-to-date records, logbooks, manuals and service logs; prepare written reports;
  • Implement administrative procedures including purchasing and budgeting; conduct parts interpretation and stock control;
  • Coordinate physical recoveries of Plant and equipment; assist with technical information for tender applications;
  • Coordinate quotes and repairs for Panel Damage; assist with Insurance claims;
  • Undertake periodic inspections of fleet; monitor and manage fleet warranties;
  • Design and implement plant preventative maintenance systems; conduct investigations after incidents or WHS reports;
  • Ensure safe and technically sound methods; operate and maintain equipment per manufacturer instructions;
Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise staff and assign tasks;
  2. Conduct daily toolbox talks; develop training plans; support apprentices toward formal qualifications;
  3. Conduct inductions; retraining after incidents; annual performance reviews; manage discipline as required;

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Heavy Earthmoving Mechanic and/or Diesel Fitter and/or other mechanical trade;
  • Current General Construction Induction Card;
  • Current Queensland MR Class Driver's Licence;
  • Experience in human resource management practices;
  • Experience supervising staff within budgetary constraints;
  • Current Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B immunisations (or willingness to obtain);
  • Significant experience in maintenance and repair of vehicles and plant;
  • Qualifications and experience in air conditioner servicing and auto electrical repairs;
  • Sound knowledge of purchasing and budgeting procedures;
  • Sound knowledge of appropriate computer applications.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in Local Government governance and procurement;
