Job Summary

The Fleet and Workshop Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient supervision and maintenance of Council’s Fleet (plant & equipment) and Workshop facilities.

This key position is responsible for managing fleet maintenance, workshop facilities, and associated assets; prioritizing, scheduling, and carrying out repairs with minimal delay.

Maintaining up-to-date records, logbooks, manuals, and service logs are essential duties, as well as preparing written reports for Council and implementing administrative procedures including purchasing and budgeting.

Fleet and Workshop Supervisors will also conduct parts interpretation and stock control, coordinate physical recoveries of Plant and equipment, and assist the Manager of Works with technical information for tender applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fleet Management: Manage Council's fleet maintenance, workshop facilities, and associated assets.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Prioritize, schedule, and carry out repairs with minimal delay.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date records, logbooks, manuals, and service logs.
  • Reporting: Prepare written reports for Council.
  • Administration: Implement administrative procedures including purchasing and budgeting.
  • Stock Control: Conduct parts interpretation and stock control.
  • Asset Recovery: Coordinate physical recoveries of Plant and equipment.
  • Tender Support: Assist the Manager of Works with technical information for tender applications.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Qualified Heavy Earthmoving Mechanic and/or Diesel Fitter and/or other mechanical trade.
  • Current General Construction Induction Card.
  • Current Queensland MR Class Driver's Licence.
  • Experience in applying effective human resource management practices.
  • Experience supervising mechanical staff and apprentices within budgetary constraints.
  • Current Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B immunisations (or willingness to obtain).
  • Significant experience in maintenance and repair of a diverse range of vehicles and plant.
  • Qualifications and experience in air conditioner servicing and auto electrical repairs.
  • Sound knowledge of purchasing and budgeting procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of appropriate computer applications.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in a similar Workshop Supervisor role.
  • Experience in Local Government governance and procurement.
  • Current 'MC' Drivers Licence.
