Job Overview

The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing all contractual, claims, disputes, financial and project controls aspects of the project.

This includes:

  • Providing commercial support for the project, encompassing contracts management, commercial claims, finance, and project controls.
  • Managing the preparation, submission, and resolution of complex contract claims, including time-related and cost-based claims, on major infrastructure projects.
  • Oversight of annual budget setting and ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and claims risk profiles.
  • Program-wide time and cost control, monthly forecasting, and robust monthly reporting, with a focus on claims tracking and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Utilizing advanced commercial negotiation skills to resolve contractual issues, disputed claims, and variations in a collaborative manner.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Applying relevant knowledge of commercial law, construction management, business management, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Collaborating with project teams to identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, negotiating solutions and defending commercial positions.
  • Fostering a culture of respect, energy and effort, attitude and leadership within the team.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of major project/program commercial requirements.
  • Firsthand experience working for a large construction contractor an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
