Job Description\

As a specialist in work health and safety, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing policies and programs to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

\

Key responsibilities include:

\
  • \
  • Developing and implementing WHS policy and programs based on identified risk, industry best practice, regulator recommendations and assurance program outcomes.\
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues.\
  • Providing specialist advice to work health and safety advisers, commanders and managers, and other stakeholders.\
  • Liaising with other authorities and interest groups on work health and safety specialist matters.\
  • Evaluating activities and processes for compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the Navy.\
  • Resolving problems using specialist expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for work health and safety activities.\
  • Supporting the development and implementation of strategic WHS activities.\
  • Building positive stakeholder relationships and fostering a positive team culture.\\

  • Ability to provide specialist advice and support to work health and safety advisers, commanders and managers, and other stakeholders.\
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate activities and processes for compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.\
  • Capacity to engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues.\\
