Work Health and Safety Specialist

This is a hands-on role providing comprehensive support services and expert advice across the full spectrum of work health and safety activities to internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be an engaged and capable team member with the capacity to self-start and work autonomously, meeting deadlines and delivering accurate advice while contributing to the management of health and safety risks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on required controls, remediations and support packages
  • Coordinate the running of corporate networks for First Aid Officers and Fire Wardens, and provide administrative support for the Health and Safety Representative network
  • Perform secretariat functions for the Work Health and Safety Committee (WHSC)
  • Effectively utilise the hazard and incident reporting system, responding to reports in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Conduct and contribute to the completion and review of workplace risk assessments
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of workplace health and well-being initiatives
  • Support the ongoing development and delivery of WHS briefings and training
  • Provide well-researched and timely advice on WHS matters

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and deliver outcomes with attention to detail
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills across various channels and contexts, including written briefs, meetings, presentations and online interactions
  • A problem solver with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain flexible in a complex high-tempo environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
