
Safety and Compliance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position that involves ensuring the safety of our employees and facilities.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, with experience in developing and implementing compliance programs. They will be responsible for conducting regular audits and inspections, as well as participating in the certification process for Health and Safety (AS/NZ 4801 / HSEAS 18001) and Environmental (ISO 14001).
Key duties include:
- Assisting in the development and implementation of safety compliance programs
- Conducting audits and inspections in site and office environments
- Participating in Health and Safety and Environmental certification processes
- Traveling interstate to various facilities
- Coordinating safety activities with contractors
- Attending pre-start meetings and delivering toolbox talks
In addition to these key duties, the successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting incident investigations and managing reporting and action follow-up. They will work closely with site and office teams to ensure compliance with current WHS legislation and maintain accurate records using company systems.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- Cert IV in WHS or higher qualification
- 3-5 years' experience in a related industry, with a focus on health and safety
- Incident investigation skills in a recognised methodology (ICAM/Taproot etc)
- White card
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A high level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy
- Organisational skills
- A passion for continual improvement of health and safety performance
- Ability to lead and motivate on-site teams in health and safety
