Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner Job Description

This role is part of an embedded practitioner model that aims to strengthen partnerships with QPS and community organisations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide crisis intervention, risk and needs assessments, and safety planning for adult and child victim-survivors.
  • Deliver warm referrals for longer-term support services and ensure continuity of care.
  • Build trust with victim-survivors to support police engagement and promote awareness of family violence.
  • Strengthen partnerships with QPS and community organisations to improve service delivery.
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases and support staff through co-case management.
  • Champion collaboration and continuous service improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in family violence services.
  • Understanding of challenges faced by women and children affected by family violence.
  • Trauma-informed case management and safety planning skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
  • Knowledge or experience in staff supervision (highly regarded).
  • Current Queensland Driver's Licence.
  • Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

About The Role: As a Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, you will be the key point of contact for victim-survivors and work closely with police and other agencies to ensure continuity of care. You will provide expert advice and guidance to support police engagement and promote awareness of family violence. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of women and children affected by family violence.

Key Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. You must also have minimum 3 years' experience in family violence services and a strong understanding of challenges faced by women and children affected by family violence. In addition, you must have trauma-informed case management and safety planning skills, strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills, and knowledge or experience in staff supervision.
