Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner Job Description

This role requires a dedicated professional to work with the Queensland Police Service and community organizations to reshape responses to family violence across Queensland.

About the Position
  • The Senior Specialist will play a key role in crisis intervention, risk and needs assessments, and safety planning for adult and child victim-survivors.
  • Deliver warm referrals for longer-term support services and ensure continuity of care for those affected by family violence.
  • Establish trust with victim-survivors to facilitate police engagement and promote awareness of family violence dynamics.
  • Strengthen partnerships with the QPS and community organizations to improve responses to family violence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Crisis intervention and risk assessment for victims of family violence.
  • Provide ongoing support and manage complex cases while ensuring continuity of care.
  • Mentor staff through co-case management and champion collaboration within the organization.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is essential.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in family violence services, including understanding of challenges faced by women and children affected by family violence.
  • Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills are necessary for effective case management and stakeholder engagement.
