Job Description

This is a challenging role that focuses on developing and implementing Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs.

The position involves delivering key priorities outlined in local, state and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C and hepatitis B. It requires building and strengthening collaborative relationships between services, Aboriginal-led organisations and other sectors working with Aboriginal communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, implementation, evaluation and coordination of Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis.
  • Building and strengthening collaborative relationships between services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other sectors working with Aboriginal communities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Relevant qualifications in a health-related field and/or experience as a health worker / health promotion/project worker in the government or non-government sector are also essential.

Additionally, you will need to demonstrate knowledge of current HIV, sexual health and hepatitis prevention, testing and treatment, as well as understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities.

Selection Criteria
  • Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, negotiating and building effective partnerships with key Aboriginal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and with minimal supervision to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and communication skills.
