Aboriginal Health Promotion Programs Role

This is an Aboriginal Identified position that requires someone to bring their cultural capability and lived experience as an Aboriginal person. The role involves planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver health-related projects, including program planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Build and strengthen collaborative relationships between services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other health sectors that work with Aboriginal communities.
  • Provide leadership, innovation, and research in the sector, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level.
Requirements:
  • Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Relevant qualifications in a health-related field and/or experience as a health worker/health promotion/project worker in the government or non-government sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current HIV, sexual health, and hepatitis prevention, testing, and treatment, and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities particularly young Aboriginal people.

The successful candidate will have strong organisational and communication skills, including the ability to prioritise competing interests and meet tight deadlines. They will also be able to work in a team environment and work with minimum supervision to deliver agreed outcomes.
