What You'll Be Doing

The Health Promotion Officer will primarily work in the Health & Wellbeing stream and contribute to evidence based and/or innovative programs of work for population health priorities. The HPO may also work on projects from the Early Years & Ageing stream as required. The purpose of this position is to improve the health of people living in south western Sydney by contributing to Health Promotion programs of work in line with South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Ministry of Health's goals, principles, and strategies. The HPO will be responsible for working with the team to deliver all stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and sustainability of programs relating to physical and food environments that support health and programs that promote healthy eating, active living and healthy weight in adults.

Key responsibilities include delivering all stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and sustainability of such programs.

Where You'll Be Working

South Western Sydney is rapidly growing with proximity to public transport, beaches, the Blue Mountains and Royal National Park. The area includes major shopping centers and development projects in Sydney's new airport area, offering a mix of metropolitan and rural community settings.

  • Tertiary qualifications in health or related field and demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination particularly relating to physical and food environments that support health and programs that promote healthy eating, active living and healthy weight in adults.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination particularly relating to physical and food environments that support health and programs that promote healthy eating, active living and healthy weight in adults.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current health promotion theory and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain partnerships with other staff and government, non-government and community organisations.
  • Effective organisational, problem solving and team skills including the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver\'s license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner\'s licenses are not permitted.
Qualifications
