Role Responsibilities
We are seeking a Permanent Financial Accountant to contribute to our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, this role is essential for delivering comprehensive financial accounting services. You will play a key role in facilitating informed financial decisions through the collection, analysis, and reporting of financial data.
Key Duties Include:
Management Accounting - Responsible for the preparation of payroll and operational expense documentation, including journal entries for monthly financial accounts up to the trial balance stage. Conduct regular analyses of management accounts focusing on various cost elements such as overheads and payroll.
Financial Reporting - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for designated areas. This includes calculating monthly leave provisions and collaborating with the payroll team to resolve discrepancies during month-end reconciliations and supporting the year-end audit process.
Tax Compliance - Involvement in the preparation and analysis of financial data for Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns and assistance with income tax return preparation as necessary.
Process Optimization - Develop and enhance accounting workpapers to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Identify opportunities for refining accounting procedures and systems.
Essential Qualifications
- CA or CPA qualified or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years of comprehensive financial accounting experience.
- Proficient in IT systems, including financial software/ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional communication skills with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to customer and stakeholder service.
- Strong organizational skills with effective record-keeping capabilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Solid understanding of spreadsheets, data analysis, and reconciliation processes.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with both campus and support office personnel.
