Position Overview
We are seeking a Permanent Financial Accountant to enhance our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, this role is pivotal in delivering comprehensive financial accounting services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating informed financial decisions through meticulous data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Accounts: Prepare payroll and operational expense documentation, along with journal entries, to ensure accurate monthly financial accounts up to the trial balance stage. Conduct regular analyses of management accounts focusing on overhead costs, payroll expenditures, and government funding.
- Financial Accounts: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for designated areas. Calculate monthly leave provisions and verify payroll data. Collaborate with the payroll team to resolve discrepancies during month-end reconciliations and assist in the year-end audit process.
- Tax Management: Prepare or analyze financial data for Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns and support the preparation of income tax returns as necessary.
- Process Enhancement: Develop and refine accounting workpapers to streamline processes and improve review efficiency. Identify opportunities for enhancing general accounting procedures and systems.
Essential Qualifications
- CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) with 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting.
- Proficient in financial software/ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a positive demeanor, with experience in delivering exceptional service to stakeholders.
- Effective administrative skills with a strong ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with maturity and discretion.
- Proficient in data analysis and reconciliation processes.
- Capable of collaborating effectively with both campus and support office personnel.
