Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a Permanent Financial Accountant to contribute to our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, this role is crucial in delivering high-quality financial accounting services. Your responsibilities will include:

Management Accounting - You will prepare payroll and operational expense documentation, along with journal entries, to ensure accurate monthly financial accounts up to the trial balance stage. Regular analysis of management accounts will be required, focusing on overhead costs, payroll expenses, and government funding.

Financial Reporting - You will be responsible for generating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for designated areas. This includes calculating monthly leave provisions and collaborating with the payroll team to resolve discrepancies during month-end reconciliations and throughout the year-end audit process.

Tax Compliance - You will prepare or analyze financial data for Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns and assist in the preparation of income tax returns as necessary.

Process Optimization - You will create and enhance accounting documentation to facilitate efficient processing and reviews. Identifying opportunities for improving accounting procedures and systems will be essential for increasing operational efficiencies.

Essential Qualifications

  • CA or CPA qualified or equivalent, with a minimum of 3-5 years of comprehensive experience in financial accounting.
  • Proficient in IT systems, including financial software/ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a positive demeanor, with experience in delivering outstanding customer and stakeholder service.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective record-keeping capabilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with maturity and professionalism.
  • Solid understanding of spreadsheets, data analysis, and reconciliation processes.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with both campus and support office personnel.
