Job Title: Assistant Director Workplace Relations

This pivotal role is responsible for shaping and managing the agency's workplace relations framework, ensuring compliance with legislation, fostering positive employee relations, and resolving complex industrial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage workplace relations strategies, including enterprise bargaining, employee disputes, and industrial relations matters.
  • Provide expert advice on complex workplace relations issues, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and agreements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including senior executives, to proactively identify and manage workplace relations risks.
  • Lead enterprise agreement negotiations, including preparing bargaining strategies, consulting with stakeholders, and ensuring outcomes align with organisational goals.

Key Capabilities:

  • Extensive experience in workplace relations, industrial relations, or a similar role within the public or private sector.
  • Proven experience in managing enterprise bargaining processes and handling complex employment disputes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law, workplace legislation, and APS frameworks.

What you'll need to succeed:

To be eligible for this position, you will need to be an Australian Citizen, hold a Federal Government Security Clearance (Baseline, NV1 or NV2) or be willing to obtain one.

Candidates who are permanently employed in the APS are encouraged to apply as a section 26, labour hire, or NGO. Also, candidates who are currently working in a private sector with strong transferable skills, are highly encouraged to apply.

You will be offered an initial 12-months non-ongoing contract with possible extension in an inclusive and progressive team within one of the Government's leading Department in Canberra.
