Aircraft Technical Inspector Job Description

As an Aircraft Technical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of aircraft structures, structural components, and engines. You will work in a collaborative environment to maintain and inspect aircraft systems, including mechanical and electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, remove, install, repair, replace, modify, disassemble, reassemble, and calibrate complex aircraft mechanical and electromechanical systems
  • Perform receiving, in-process, final quality, flight safety inspections, and functional operational tests during organizational, intermediate, and depot level maintenance, modification, and repair of military tactical aircraft systems or associated components
  • Approve or reject work accomplished by team members to ensure compliance with customer specifications, standards, and technical data
  • Review and approve locally developed procedures and solutions to complex repair situations
  • Perform analysis of defects and interpret quality control rejection and failure trends
  • Monitor safety, training, and certification requirements
  • Using checklists, perform daily work site Safety Inspections and Foreign Object Damage Inspections
Requirements:
  • Broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and technical publications
  • Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and how to operate portable firefighting equipment
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications
  • Exceptional communication skills, leadership abilities, and personnel management skills are required
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears
Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a (Secret Clearance) US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull parts and equipment up to 25 pounds
  • May be required to occasionally lift/push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
