Strategic Director for Pacific Initiatives

Greenpeace Australia Pacific is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Director to join our Board, requiring a deep understanding of the Pacific cultural, political, economic and social context.

The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental or wider movements, relevant governance skills, and networks to provide significant value to the GPAP Board as it scales up for greater achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting the direction of GPAP
  • Monitoring programmes and activities
  • Ensuring executive performance
  • Obtaining resources required to carry out GPAP's mission and sustain it

Candidates should possess a strong understanding of the Pacific context, sufficient time to commit to GPAP Board work (approximately 15-20 hours per month), and submit an abbreviated resume via Recruiterflow form.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of the cultural, political, economic and social context of the Pacific
  • Sufficient time to effectively commit to GPAP Board work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Greenpeace, campaigning and/or expertise in environmental or wider movements
  • Relevant governance experience and skills, with potential for future consideration as GPAP Board Chair
  • Strong networks suitable for providing significant value to the GPAP Board

Additional Information:

GPAP Board meetings are held at least six times per year, with virtual meetings conducted during 2020. All GPAP Board members must be part of the GPAP General Assembly, an overarching governance body making decisions under the GPAP Constitution.
