About the Role

Greenpeace Australia Pacific is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Board of Directors. As a member of our Board, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization and ensuring that we remain true to our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Executive Team in setting the direction of Greenpeace Australia Pacific
  • Ensure that our programs and activities are aligned with our mission and achieve their short-term goals and long-term purpose
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the Executive Team and ensure that they are held accountable for their actions
  • Ensure that Greenpeace Australia Pacific has the necessary resources to carry out its mission and sustain it
  • Comply with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Governance Standards
Requirements
  • Deep understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social context of the Pacific
  • Sufficient time to effectively commit to Greenpeace Australia Pacific Board work (approximately 15-20 hours per month)
  • Experience in Greenpeace, campaigning, and/or expertise in environmental or wider movements (desirable)
  • Relevant governance experience, skills, and availability to be considered for future Board Chair (desirable)
  • Relevant networks suitable to providing significant value to the Greenpeace Australia Pacific Board as it scales up for greater achievement (desirable)
