About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Claims Officer to join our expanding team in New South Wales. As part of a centralised national support service, you will manage a wide range portfolio of complex claims and review and assess workers compensation claims in accordance with NSW Workers Compensation legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of complex claims, including litigated claims, to reduce the number and cost of these claims and hence reduce costs to the business.
  • Review and assess workers compensation claims, providing guidance to Claims Officers making liability decisions.
  • Lead and mentor claims staff in developing effective claims and injury management strategies.
  • Influence, motivate, and strive to deliver exceptional claims management outcomes, educating and assisting the claims team on complex and litigated claims.
  • Lead case reviews and assist with the development of claims management strategies on all open claims.
Requirements
  • Higher School certificate or equivalent.
  • Workers Compensation Self-Insurance experience preferable.
  • Working knowledge of NSW legislative workers compensation framework & timeframes.
  • Ability to manage complex workers compensation issues/procedures.
  • Strong skills in identification and management of barriers and strategies associated with injury and claims management.
  • Expert knowledge of PIAWE legislation, regulation and Standards of Practice.
  • Expert knowledge in processing of Workers Compensation Weekly Benefits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build constructive and effective working relationships.
  • Evidence of high-level attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of information.
