Job Description

As a key member of our freight operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless management of domestic and international freight services to support Qantas Engineering's global operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing internal and external freight providers, adhering to contractual obligations and group policies. This includes coordinating 24-hour operational requirements globally, overseeing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet organizational needs while minimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provision of domestic and international freight services to Qantas Engineering
  • Management of internal and external freight providers
  • Coordination of recovery plans and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Accountability for performance metrics and cost optimization
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require demonstrated experience in freight and logistics management, as well as a working understanding of airfreight operations, customs, incoterms, and dangerous goods regulations. Relevant aviation engineering experience is also desirable. Strong influencing and negotiation skills are essential, along with high analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in IT solution design and data entry skills, including Microsoft Office applications and internal systems, are necessary. Experience with Lean methodologies and exposure to various freight and logistics tools and applications are highly valued.

A proven ability to coach and train staff, manage small projects, and demonstrate flexibility in a rotational roster environment (7:00am–3:30pm, Monday to Sunday) are also required.
