Claims Specialist

About the Role
Gallagher Bassett is seeking a highly skilled Claims Specialist to join our team in Darwin. As a Liability and Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting initial contacts and risk assessments, obtaining subjective and objective evidence, and determining liability for workers' compensation claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the claim lodgement process, ensuring key information is obtained from stakeholders to support the timely determination of a claim;
- Determine liability for a claim within the legislative timeframes and communicate decision to the injured worker and employer;
- Undertake specialist claims investigation, determine normal weekly earnings, lump sum, and whole person impairment entitlements;
- Identify any potential barriers and provide effective strategies for eligibility outcomes;
- Provide education to workers, employers, and treating medical practitioners in respect to rights and responsibilities;
- Undertake the internal dispute resolution process as requested;
- Provide instructions to panel solicitors with respect to litigated matters;
- Prepare required paperwork for NT WorkSafe in relation to mediation requests;
- Attend mediation and work health court conferences as required.
About You
- Significant experience in workers' compensation claims management, impairment assessment guidelines, and relevant case law;
- Strong working knowledge of the NT Workers' Compensation legislation and guidelines;
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate at all levels of organization and with a varied set of stakeholders;
- A proactive and holistic mindset;
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail;
- Empathetic and enthusiastic, with a strong sense of team and collaboration;
- A resilient attitude.
