Job Overview

The role of a Systems Designer is pivotal in the delivery of technical solutions that meet customer expectations. As a key member of the sales team, this individual acts as a consultant to translate customer needs into functional system designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer requirements into detailed system descriptions and specifications.
  • Review pre-construction design and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop comprehensive proposals that accurately reflect project scope and requirements.
  • Assist in the development of functional system descriptions and block diagrams to facilitate clear communication with customers.
  • Identify all necessary equipment and material requirements for successful project execution.
  • Support account managers in estimating labor and material costs for projects.
  • Oversee project installation when required, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Develop engineering and architectural drawings, calculations, and other data as needed to support project execution.
  • Provide ongoing engineering support and assist with project sign-off to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with vendors to evaluate products and services, providing expert recommendations to the sales team.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Proven expertise in business writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in operating test and calibration equipment is essential.
  • Support user acceptance testing to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Familiarity with basic IP networking concepts is required.
  • Ability to diagnose complex system issues and provide efficient solutions.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in AV design, configuration, and operation, are crucial.
  • Capacity to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, enabling strong relationships with employees, clients, and colleagues.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards are mandatory.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma is required.

Prior Experience:

  • Formal education in Electronics or a related field is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in AV is highly desirable.
  • Combination of 1-2 years of AV experience and a four-year degree or military experience may be considered.
  • Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence etc.) – both hardware and software – is highly valued.
  • AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) certification is an asset.
