Lead Water Engineer

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Water Engineer to join our team based in Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.


This is an opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects, delivering innovative and sustainable water solutions that make a real impact.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver surface water modelling for major transport infrastructure projects.
  • Flood impact assessments, waterway assessments, and surface water modelling.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate flood modelling and drainage design into large-scale infrastructure planning.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, manage project deliverables, and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
  • Support business growth across Queensland.

About You

You will have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • At least 10 years' experience in flood modelling and surface water engineering for transport infrastructure. Experience in drainage design would also be beneficial, but is not required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in tools like TUFLOW, WBNM, RORB, HEC-RAS, XP-RAFTS, 12D, DRAINS, MUSIC, and QGIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of ARR, TMR standards, and Austroads guidelines. Experience with rail projects would also be beneficial.
  • Experience in CFD modelling and/or programming languages (e.g. Python) is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • The ability to lead or contribute to flood impact assessments and waterway assessments for infrastructure planning and design.
  • The ability to work across multiple office locations and projects if required.
  • Experience working with State road authorities is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset.
