Are you ready to shape the future of transport infrastructure through cutting-edge flood modelling and surface water engineering? We're looking for a passionate and experienced Associate Flood Modeller / Hydrologist to join our high-performing Bridges, Aviation & Roads (BAR) team based in Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.


This is your chance to work on some of Queensland's most significant road, rail, and civil infrastructure projects, delivering innovative, sustainable, and resilient water solutions that make a real impact.


What You'll Do
  • Lead and deliver surface water modelling for major transport infrastructure projects.
  • Undertake flood impact assessments, waterway assessments, and surface water modelling.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate flood modelling and drainage design into large-scale infrastructure planning.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, manage project deliverables, and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, future-focused team culture.
  • Support proposal development and contribute to business growth across Queensland.

About You

You will have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • At least 10 years' experience in flood modelling and surface water engineering for transport infrastructure. Experience in drainage design would also be looked upon favourably, but is not required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in tools like TUFLOW, WBNM, RORB, HEC-RAS, XP-RAFTS, 12D, DRAINS, MUSIC, and QGIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of ARR, TMR standards, and Austroads guidelines. Experience with rail projects would also be beneficial to the role.
  • Experience in CFD modelling and/or programming languages (e.g. Python) is a plus, but not a requirement for the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to flood impact assessments and waterway assessments for infrastructure planning and design.
  • The ability to work across multiple office locations and projects if required.
  • Experience working with State road authorities (e.g., TMR, TfNSW) is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
