Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team at Busy Bees at Wyndham Vale. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our children, while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals for children, considering their developmental needs and dietary requirements.
  • Design and implement rotating menus that adhere to dietary guidelines and cater to the diverse needs of children.
  • Prepare meals for children with allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary needs, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, or halal.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Work within budgetary constraints when ordering food and supplies, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Prepare meals according to the schedule of the early childhood service, demonstrating punctuality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent culinary qualifications or experience.
  • A current and valid Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a Chef, Cook, or similar role, particularly in an early childhood setting.
  • Understanding of specific nutritional requirements and common allergies/intolerances in young children.
  • Ability to prepare dishes that reflect various cultures and traditions, making food an educational experience.
  • Knowledge of sustainable food practices, such as reducing waste or using locally sourced ingredients.
