Unique Opportunity in Forensic Mental Health

This is a rare chance to contribute to the implementation of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System. As a Senior Forensic Research Specialist, you will work closely with Swinburne University of Technology to establish an industry presence and build leadership networks.

The scholarship offers a significant opportunity to undertake research that supports the research agenda of Forensicare, addressing critical issues in forensic mental health care. You will collaborate with supervisors to develop a project that evaluates and improves Forensicare services, strengthens the capability and wellbeing of staff, and addresses the mental health and other causes of violence and complex problem behaviour.

The successful applicant will join one of our Doctoral programs, integrating into high-performing academic teams within a world-class research setting. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that improve how we prevent inpatient aggression and violence, reduce use of restrictive practices, and help us address co-occurring disorders and other factors that delay recovery progress.

We are seeking highly motivated and competitive candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are enrolled in a Doctoral Program. To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor degree honours and/or a research master's degree in psychological sciences, health sciences, population and global health, and those with relevant industry experience, with a First Class Honours (average grade 80-100) or equivalent.

The salary for this position is AU$ 87,500 per annum, plus benefits. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals affected by mental illness, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
