About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Records Coordinator to join our Corporate Services team at the Women's and Children's Health Network.

As a Medical Records Coordinator, you will be responsible for the overall management of the Patient Master Index (PMI), including patient registration, alerts, and medical record tracking components.

You will develop and review organisational policies and procedures to ensure PMI accuracy and completeness, and recommend changes/updates to the system based on standards or practice changes.

Maintaining confidentiality and security of the PMI is crucial, and you will be responsible for managing security levels and liaising with patients/guardians.

You will also liaise with the Department of Health and Ageing on data integrity errors/omissions, and advise on future needs for patient data collection and storage.

Additionally, you will ensure identification of children under Guardianship of the Minister in Homer, EDIS, and medical records, and identify children involved in Family Court Orders in Homer and medical records and Adelaide Women's prison patients.

Adhering to relevant government and organisational policies and procedures, including Department of Health and Ageing standards for client identification data, is essential.

You will maintain a customer-focused service and portray a professional image, respecting patient rights and acting with diplomacy while providing efficient service.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Word processing with high accuracy and attention to detail; experience in data management (Microsoft suite and Hospital PAS).
  • Experience in Medical Record department, PMI office, or a multidisciplinary complex healthcare facility. Use of a range of software packages for data management (e.g., PMI, Homer Tracking).
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, and guidelines pertaining to health information, confidentiality, and information security.
  • Familiarity with technological advances related to electronic PMI linkages and computerized tracking systems.
  • Understanding of computerised hospital patient information systems and hospital clerical workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake assigned duties without direct supervision. Ability to use initiative and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations and priorities. Self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic.

What WCHN Can Offer You

We offer a range of benefits, including a salary package, access to Fitness Passport, free public transport, and generous leave provisions.

We also offer professional development opportunities and support for you and your family via our Employee Assistance Program.
