About CRU:

CRU is a Bible-based, interdenominational Christian youth organisation whose vision is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the students of the independent schools of Australia, to nurture Christians, encourage church membership and train young Christians for a life of servant leadership. We achieve this through CRU Educational Camps, CRU Holiday Camps, and Schools Ministry, all supported by our Camp & Conference Centres.

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic leader to manage the day-to-day operations of our 6.5-hectare waterfront facility, which is complemented by 40 hectares of lush bushland. The centre, which accommodates up to 380 guests, features a variety of onsite activities, both water and land based.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Christian Leadership: Provide pastoral support to staff, lead Bible studies, and encourage faith growth among the team.
  2. Human Resources Management: Recruit, lead, and manage staff, ensure compliance with employment laws, and supervise contractors. Facilitate staff meetings and development activities.
  3. Hospitality Services: Ensure high-quality experiences for guests, maintain and grow occupancy levels, and build positive community relations.
  4. Site and Equipment Maintenance: Plan and oversee maintenance tasks, manage cleaning schedules, and ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  5. Perform hands-on duties as needed.
  6. Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, cost control, and financial planning to support CRU's ministries. Implement long-term goals to align with CRU's objectives.
  7. General Management: Advise on policies and equipment, submit reports to the Executive Director/Director of Properties, and participate in Divisional Heads meetings.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Mature Christian faith with active church involvement and agreement with CRU's beliefs.
  2. Strong problem-solving skills and experience in team leadership and management.
  3. Proven skills in budgeting, maintenance, and customer service.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and office administration.
  5. Flexibility to work irregular hours as needed and current driver's license.
  6. Appropriate health and fitness to carry out all duties effectively.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Experience managing a Christian camping or conference centre.
  2. Background in hospitality or tourism, and trade qualifications or experience.
  3. Qualifications in hospitality or facilities management, human resources.
  4. Additional certifications such as first aid, chainsaw training, tractor driving, or a boat driving license.

Proximity to Site:

The Site Director must reside within a 20-30 minute drive to respond to emergencies promptly.
