Job Role Summary

The Technical Director – Geotechnical and Tunnels will be a key figure in representing our brand, driving growth locally and internationally. They will leverage their deep technical expertise to engage with clients, lead complex discussions, and ensure high standards in design deliverables across various infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis and reporting for tunnel and geotechnical design projects.
  • Maintain appropriate technical standards, quality assurance, and safety requirements during design and construction.
  • Provide expert input in materials testing, scoping objectives, and geotechnical investigations to inform design recommendations.
  • Contribute to winning work by assisting proposal submissions, developing new business opportunities, and growing client relationships.
  • Mentor junior engineers, ensuring high-quality technical design outputs.
  • Collaborate with discipline teams, Technical Leads, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive project solutions.

Salary: $AUD 150,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Renewable Energy and Water markets.
  • Strong numerical modelling experience using geotechnical/structural software packages (e.g. PLAXIS, FLAC, Wallap, Rocscience suite).
  • Exceptional report writing abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Proven track record in tunnel and underground design.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills, ability to lead design teams.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, ideally CPEng/NER.
